How to rediscover your style post-lockdown

As if picking an outfit wasn’t hard enough! Lockdown has now ensured that when we reach in to our wardrobe we grab either loungewear, pyjamas or gym wear – but without the gym.

We have been in touch with London-based freelance stylist, Lauren Glazer for some outfit advice ahead of our post-lockdown debut. Lauren has shared some great tips to make use of all the clothes you have hoarded over the lockdown period and only worn once due to being stuck inside.

It’s time to re-style your clothes and create a completely new look while being sustainable and without breaking the bank.

NO.1

FIND OUT WHAT YOU FEEL MOST COMFORTABLE IN

Whether that’s a particular colour, shape or design styling an outfit around one centre piece that you love can encourage you to wear something different. When we asked Lauren how she would tackle a client’s request to re-discover their style, she said:

“I would ask them what they feel comfortable in and what makes them feel the best. I would go through their wardrobe with them and try to re-outfit and re-inspire them.”

NO.2

DRESS FOR HOW YOU WANT TO FEEL

You may underestimate how much your appearance affects your mood but, it’s important to “look the part” and surprisingly, coordinating your look with how you want to feel can have the exact effect you are looking for. Lauren said:

“Although it’s so easy for everyone at the moment to just wear a tracksuit, it’s good to wear a pair of jeans or some nice trousers just to make yourself feel like you are going out and making an effort.”

NO.3

LAYER UP AND WEAR THINGS DIFFERENTLY

Lockdown may have you lost with how to style your Summer looks after a year of wearing the same Winter jumper. But is it important to have versatile clothing? Lauren said:

“I do think it is important to have clothing that you can carry through the seasons with you. For example, I could wear a beige jacket with a crochet crop top in Summer or layer it with a jumper underneath in Winter.”
